Overall Spokane Crime Rate Versus United States Average

Update March 2013 – there has been a lot of violent crime in Spokane the past two months and many people are landing on this page after a search.

An organization that ranks cities in terms of violent crime ranks Spokane as the 348th worst out of 458 cities rated. You can see the full list here. Boise, Idaho, which is one of the cities that Spokane bench marks against, is rated #75.

As of 2009, Spokane ranked 121st worst out of 393 cities ranked for crime. (Where 1 is highest crime rate and 393 is the lowest crime rate.) That puts Spokane in the top 30% for crime – but obviously, there are places where crime is much worse.

What is troubling is that the 2009 ranking at #121 is from the same organization – this means Spokane’s crime rate has, by end of 2012, worsened considerably.
