Health care as a percent of Spokane’s GDP

In a previous post, I presented a quote from the chair of the Spokane Regional Chamber (they changed their name to GreaterSpokane, Inc.) claiming that one-third of Spokane’s GDP was due to health care and one quarter of all workers here are in health care.

That statement is false. The actual total is between 11% and 12% of the GDP is due to health care according to these charts from the BEA.  I am not certain I believe that either since other Washington State data indicates between 13% and 18% of the work force is in the health care sector.
